About the Event
The Symphony of Steel will enter its 7th round on May 9th, 2026! Once again, the event will feature three different tournament formats:
- Longsword Tournament Open (DDHF ranking tournament) – 36 spots
- Longsword Tournament Women+ (DDHF ranking tournament) – 20 spots
- Longsword Tournament for Beginners – 20 spots

Registration
Registration will open on the Schwabenfedern event page on Sunday, February 15th, 2026 at 8:00 pm. Tournament spots will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
- Participation fee: 66 €
- Spectators: We kindly ask spectators to register as well.
A free spectator ticket will be available from February 17th, 2026.
As the individual tournaments overlap in time, each participant may only compete in one tournament.
Participation Requirements
For the Open and Women+ tournaments, the participation regulations of the DDHF framework rules apply. To participate in the beginners’ tournament, competitors must:
- Have participated in no more than one previous tournament, and
- Have no more than two years of active experience in historical fencing.
The beginners’ tournament is otherwise open to all fencers regardless of gender or gender identity.

Once again this year, we have exclusive merchandise for you! In collaboration with archandy (https://vgen.co/archandy), we have created a fantastic design for Symphony 2026.
- Price: €25
- Support: All proceeds go directly back into the event.
- Ordering: You can order the shirt directly when you register.
- No stress: Since registration often has to be done quickly, you can leave the field blank for now. There will be an opportunity to reorder shirts afterwards.
- Pickup: Your ordered shirts will be available for you at the Symphony check-in on site.
Ruleset
To place greater emphasis on clean fencing and defensive behaviour after a hit, we will be using a life point–based scoring system for this event.
Further details can be found in the Rules PDF below. The ruleset is currently pending final approval by the DDHF; only minor wording adjustments are expected before final publication.

Open Tournament
- Preliminary round: Pool phase with six pools of six participants
- Main round: An elimination phase is planned, either Swiss system or single elimination

Women+ Tournament
- Preliminary round: Pool phase with two pools of six participants
- Main round: An elimination phase is planned, either Swiss system or single elimination

Beginners’ Tournament
- Preliminary round: Pool phase with four pools of five participants
- Main round: An elimination phase is planned, either Swiss system or single elimination

If the number of participants differs significantly from expectations, the tournament format may be adjusted accordingly.

Directions
Parking
The sports center itself has limited parking availability:
- Upper parking lot on Egginger Weg
- Lower parking lot at ASB
Additional parking is available at the Kuhberg School Center. Teacher parking spaces may also be used.
Please prioritize these parking areas, as the Park & Ride parking lot may also be used for other events on May 9th. Ensure that the bus turning loop at Kuhberg remains completely clear of parked vehicles.
Public Transport
If you arrive by public transport, take tram line 2 to the final stop “Kuhberg Schulzentrum”.
Legal Notice (Weapons Ban Zone)
Since October 15th, 2024, a weapons ban zone has been in effect in Ulm’s city center between 8:00 pm and 6:00 am. We strongly recommend transporting federschwerts in locked bags or cases during these hours to avoid unnecessary complications with law enforcement.
